Post by brewisPost by clouddreamerPost by brewisHow do you get rid of snails from your garden ( the small ones with
shells )....any ideas
Thanks
Snails won't slither over anything that is rough because it tears up
their bellies. Small chip mulch is perfect. Just put a thick layer
around your plants.
I also use raised beds for my gardens and the snails don't like
climbing the rough wood.
..
thanks for your response...it's my daughter's home and they are stuck on
the side of the house, around the grounds, in the trees...and she's not
much good with bugs....so I'd like to get rid of them for her ( if I can )
Thanks
Ah...it's not a vegetable garden but the whole yard? That's a little
different.
Is the grass long? Is there a lot of wood, bricks, rock and other items
that the snails can hide under when it gets warm? Are any of her plants
attractive to snails? Are the plants she has providing them with cover?
Is there a little mulch under those plants? (They'll use the edge of a
light coating of mulch to hide - in a vegetable garden, a wide swatch of
thick mulch would dissuade them from crossing to the vegetables).
Cut the grass short, remove all places the snails can hide in, remove or
cut back plants they can hide under, plant flowers/plants the snails
don't like (google for lists of anti-snail/slug plants) and put up a
bird feeder to attract birds.
Try that and see how that works.
