The regular Emerald aborvitae cedars (commonly for sale at our large
stores) seem to be struggling all across Central Newfoundland with
browning and dieback. Mine were also attacked by white moths but
recovered eventually. They just don't seem equiped for our climate.

Are there other cedars that might be better adapted to thrive in NL?
Maybe nigra, techny or Brandon cultivars might be better bets?

I tried a nigra here in the St. John's area. It did well for a couple of
years then died. There are lots of nice looking cedars around the city but
I don't know what kind they are. I thought they were emerald. The local
nursery people might be able to give advice.
